#MedalMonday August 2012

This week, I came back unscathed from a short holiday with my in-laws. They booked a caravan up on the coast for a week. Mid-week I received a text from their other daughter-in-law, my comrade in arms, to say that their couple of days up there with them had been "hell". Oh goodie! It was then our turn to join them for two nights. I wasn't looking forward to it now. Mind you, I'm not sure I ever was.

Anyway, we got through the three days with no arguments - not one. The twins went mental in the caravan, running round and attacking any non-baby proofed items that they could, and there was some frustrating discussions about sleeping arrangements (i.e. how to get four adults, two children and two babies with cots into a two-bedroomed caravan), but I held my nerve, bit my tongue and we all got along just fine.

As soon as I saw the chance to make our escape, I got us out of there and back to the safety of home as quick as I could. It was fraught with danger, but the in-laws got to spend some quality time with their grandchildren, and I remain at the top of the daughter-in-law pecking order. Result.

Medal for me.....

#MedalMonday - July 2012

Right-o. I'm sick of hearing about all you failures* so thought it was about time we looked at the happy side of parenting - all you parenting successes. You know who you are. You might not be the greatest parent in the world ever, but I'm sure you've done something, even something very small, of which you are proud. It can be something recent or not, something funny or not, on any topic - food, crafts, a battle won.

If you have then well done you! Grab the victory badge (from the right sidebar) for your post and link up below. Tweet us @parentfrontline with #medalMonday and we'll retweet you to our army of parent troopers. We will all come and marvel at your parenting prowess and revel in your glory.

If you haven't, then you best come back next week for #failFriday. See you then. Especially you.

* I am so not. I will never, ever tire of them.

#MedalMonday - 2nd April 2012

medalMedal Monday is back!!

It's lovely to see you. Sorry about the short break but we've been busy doing important parenting stuff - some of it successfully, some of it not. But that's a different story for another day.

Medal Monday is the linky where we share and celebrate our parenting victories. You might have won a battle with the school, or just actually made a meal your children will eat. Whatever it is you're proud of, blog about it and bring it here for us all to share, and bow down at your all-round awesomeness.

#MedalMonday - 6th February 2012

Huzzah! It's that time of the week again where we have a good old gloat to everyone else about what brilliant, stroke-of-genius parenting stuff we've been up to.

Come and join in with Medal Monday. Grab the victory badge and link up your blog post below. Don't forget to tweet us the link to your post, and leave us a comment so we know you've linked up!

Last week we had two victorious tales of parenting brilliance.

Headspace blog was back again (if it weren't for her fantastic fail posts here on a Friday, I would be beginning to think she is THE ultimate in parenting excellence,) with her tale of an activity to keep your budding mini-fashionista occupied.

At the front this week, we have Tales of a Twin Mum who, with the aid of an essential piece of kit, managed to achieve something us other parenting losers can only aspire to - SLEEP!!!! Hurrah! Don't mess with her or she will send you to bed and you won't be coming down til the little sun on the clock comes out. To avoid this happening to us, we will award her the honour of being our star-trooper this week.

medalSo, come back over the next few days and read all about other parenting successes. Link up your own story (old or new) if you've got one and we'll all swing by and cheer at your triumph. If you haven't got a story for us, then come back on Friday and link up with other parenting losers with your story of defeat and utter failure. We know you've got one of those at least, and anyone who says otherwise is a big fat liar. So there.

Signing out,

Sergeant J

Medal Monday

The day we share, celebrate, rejoice in our parenting victories, no matter how small, for the purposes of bragging, gloating, showing off. Is that enough synonyms for you? I bet you're impressed now.

Whatever your attitude towards parenting success, and for whatever reason you want to tell the rest of us, please do!

At Parenting on the Front Line we will bask in the glow of your parenting brilliance, and share your glory with others who can only aspire to be half the parent you are.

Link up your blog post below, grab the Victory medal badge, and leave us a comment to let us know you've linked up.

Last week, we had two rather brilliant stories of excellence for completely different reasons.

Our first success was a good old crafting success from MummyBrain who made a very snazzy purse out of a coke bottle. Recycling at it's best. A simple and focussed success, but a success none the less.

On another scale, we had the Real Housewife of Suffolk County who managed to get through a whole weekend without major incident and they even all managed a restaurant trip, where the children were perfect little angels. Superb! Real Housewife, you are an inspiration and take this week's honour of being our winner. You don't get a prize, but hey ho, that's life.

Happy reading people. Show them some love and come back next week to see who linked up this time.

#MedalMonday - 23rd January 2012

Welcome to Medal Monday - the day we share our parenting success stories, and celebrate being one of life's winners. For a change.

Last week, we had only one trooper show up for victory parade, which is rubbish. Not that the sole trooper was rubbish, indeed she had a very good story, but ONLY ONE!!! Not good enough, you 'orrible lot!

To show you what you have to live up to, head on over to Susan's blog where she will tell you all about her lovely boys and what a fantastic job she is doing of developing their talents for reading, performing and all sorts of general cuteness. Awwwww! Susan, you deserve this week's victory medal.

If you want to be on parade this week, link up below. Don't forget to leave us a comment to let us know you've linked up. We'll all come over, say hi and congratulate you on a job well done.

Don't forget - you can link up an old post or a new one, on any parenting subject. So if your child has had a good school report, or you've just managed to make a cake without burning it, we want to know.

Laters troopers,

Sergeant J

Medal Monday is where we celebrate the high points of parenting. We give thanks for the times where our parenting brilliance comes to the fore, and we banish the demons of parenting hell back where they belong.

To join in, find a parenting victory blog post, old or new, grab the badge from the right, and come and link up. Don't forget to tweet us @ParentFrontLine with #MedalMonday, and leave us a comment if you can. Thank you!!!

Last week, we heard the success stories of two of our more diligent soldiers.

First we had me, with an unusual journey into successville. Read all about how proud I am that I got myself and my family through the roller-coaster that was 2011.

Then we had Headspace Blog who not only got through a holiday with her young family (triumphant enough really), but also rode the scariest slide ever and made it back alive, with all limbs intact. Roar!!

#MedalMonday - 12th December 2011

GOOD JOB PRIVATE!

Welcome to #MedalMonday. Today we celebrate all that is good in parenting.

Last week we had parenting success stories from two of our most battle-hardened parents. First up was Here Come the Girls who was proud of her crafting success. They looked great, whatever the hell that last one was supposed to be!

Taking the victory spoils this week, is our own Sergeant J, whose success at reaching the 8-month milestone of breastfeeding twins has to be saluted. Good job! You indeed deserve the victory medal.

Welcome to our very first #MedalMonday. Today we celebrate all that is good in parenting. We give thanks for all those things we have done that have turned out well. This may be our little treasure's fantastic performance in the school play, a successful mealtime, a battle won with the po-faced health visitor, anything that you are proud of this week.
